Kaiju No. 8: Fortitude

The sirens start before you see it.

Windows tremble. Traffic grinds to a halt. Somewhere beyond the rooftops, something enormous moves through the smoke. Evacuation orders flood the speakers as Defense Force units push past the fleeing crowds. A voice crackles over the radio, requesting a fortitude reading.

Then the numbers begin to climb.

Welcome to Kaiju No.8: Fortitude, a living world set in a Japan that faces the highest rate of kaiju attacks on Earth. Cities rebuild between disasters. Recruits train beneath the shadow of the next deployment. And when the cameras stop rolling, someone still has to clean up what the monsters leave behind.

Find your place in that world.

Enlist in the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force and fight to earn your uniform. Endure the entrance exams, discover how much power your combat suit can draw out, and learn to trust the people standing beside you when an operation goes wrong. Orders sound simple in a briefing room. They feel different when the street beneath your feet starts to split.

Join Monster Sweeper Inc. and work where the battles end. Trade gunfire for protective gear, exhausting shifts, and the remains of creatures large enough to bury entire neighborhoods. Between the unpleasant work and conversations with your coworkers, there may still be room for a dream you haven’t given up on.

Or keep your head down. Pass for ordinary. Hope nobody notices what you’re hiding beneath your skin—or points a sensor at you long enough to read 9.8.
